You know there was already something of a good camera when you only get a minor update, after almost two years of service, something confirmed by Nikon with its introduction of the professional D3S Nikon D-SLR. You can disagree with the fact that the update is more or less, but some want to join the resolution to say that there is little news on the Nikon D3S: "There are 12.1 million pixels."
But a camera has more resolution. More than any other company Nikon has taught us that a digital camera can perform better in low light conditions that we have never allowed us to expect - having more than our eyes see, so you can get better pictures without flash. We learned this with the Nikon D3, ISO setting, which has expanded to 25,600 amazing. Journalists rely on the D3 high ISO settings, which makes images that would have been impossible a few years ago.
The Nikon D3s, however, is more sensitive. Its range is from 200 to 12800 base. And scope of ISO settings up to 102,400. The opportunities are increasing.
In addition to greater sensitivity, the Nikon D3s offers the essential feature of video capture. As with other Nikon D-Movie capture 1280 x 720 progressive scan at 24 frames per second. Files are saved as AVI Motion JPEG allows the installer of the device easily editing, and extracting an image of the video stream, but without altering the original file. A microphone in front of the Nikon D3S, and a stereo microphone allows you to connect an external microphone. The regular shooting of the film allows the automatic gain control from ISO 200 to 12,800, and optional video mode High sensitivity up to ISO opens 6.400 102.400 for recording video in low light conditions.
Functionally, most of what remains has been great. The nine frames per second burst, wait or 11 fps in DX crop mode continues to provide what the users. The buffer was doubled, however, and a new mode supports 1.2x crop the image size, resulting in 8.4-megapixel files. The 51-point AF system remains largely the same, thankfully.
A new method of making noise makes shooting in low noise environments easier, and some commands have been added or moved to make use of the Nikon D3S a little 'more intuitive.
The Nikon D3s is now available for $ 5199.95 U.S., about $ 200 more than the D3 when it shipped in 2007.
